Indian Premier League: Mike Hesson said Royal Challengers Bangalore decided to spend big on Glenn Maxwell as he helps add more firepower to the middle-order. The Director of Cricket said the team management will make sure Maxwell is clear about his role and perform in a comfortable space.
Royal Challengers Bangalore Director of Cricket Mike Hesson has backed Glenn Maxwell to bring out his best in the upcoming season of Indian Premier League. Hesson said RCB will look to use him in a space where the Australian all-rounder will be able to maximise his potential. Despite having an ordinary IPL 2020 wherein he managed just 106 runs in 13 matches without even hitting a six for Punjab Kings, Glenn Maxwell was bought by RCB for a whopping sum of Rs 14.25 crore. RCB's tactics to spend big money on Maxwell helped raise a few eyebrows but Mike Hesson believes that the Australian star can prove to be the X-factor when he is allowed to understand his role clearly and execute accordingly. Mike Hesson, speaking to reports in a virtual press conference on Wednesday, said RCB wanted Maxwell to add more firepower to the middle-order, thereby the former finalists have a two-pronged attack along with AB de Villiers in the middle and end overs in IPL 2021.More Related News
