IPL 2021: Discussed quitting RCB captaincy with AB de Villiers in 2019, says Virat Kohli

IPL 2021: AB de Villiers said he has enjoyed playing under Virat Kohli's captaincy and would want to help Royal Challengers Bangalore win the elusive trophy in the final year of the skipper's reign.

Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli said he had discussed the idea of giving up captaincy in the Indian Premier League with his good friend and teammate, AB de Villiers as early as 2019. Kohli said he wanted to continue after Mike Hesson came on board, prompting a structural change in the management of the RCB.

Virat Kohli said all he wanted to create was a peaceful environment during the IPL season and that prompted him to think about giving up captaincy.
