IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals spinner Amit Mishra warned after applying saliva on the ball
India Today
IPL 2021: DC spinner Amit Mishra forgot the ICC's saliva ban on the cricket ball and was immediately warned by the on-field umpire during the 22nd match of IPL 2021 on Tuesday.
Delhi Capitals leg-spinner Amit Mishra was given a warning after he applied saliva on the ball during Match 22 of IPL 2021 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Ahmedabad. Last year, the International Cricket Council had banned the use of saliva on the ball in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Notably, according to the ICC rules, players are warned first if they defy the saliva rules even inadvertently and then in the second instance, a 5-run penalty is imposed on the team to which the erring player belongs to. Mishra, perhaps, forgot the rules when he applied saliva before starting his first over of the match. "Rishabh, the first warning for using saliva," said umpire Virender Sharma.
