IPL 2021: CSK will assess Faf du Plessis’s injury and take a call accordingly, says CEO Kasi Viswanathan

IPL 2021: Chennai Super Kings will hope their batting mainstay - Faf du Plessis - recovers in time from his groin injury to take the field in their opening game against Mumbai Indians on September 19.
Faf du Plessis’s availability for Chennai Super Kings’s opening game of the second phase of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 remains unclear as he continues to recover from a groin injury that he suffered recently in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2021.
But CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan is not too worried about the former South African captain’s chances of playing their first match against Mumbai Indians on September 19 as they already have a good backup option in Robin Uthappa, who can open with Ruturaj Gaikwad if du Plessis is not able to take the field in time.
