iPhone 14 series: Expected specifications, design, price and more
India Today
The standard iPhone 14 model is expected to retain the old design and chipset, whereas the Pro models could get major upgrades in most areas.
With the launch of the iPhone 14 series, Apple might change its strategy and follow what Android OEMs have been doing. The lower-end model in the series might not get the latest tech and users might be forced to spend more if they want the best and latest out of the box. The standard iPhone 14 model is expected to retain the old design and chipset, whereas the Pro models could get major upgrades in most areas. Here’s what we know so far about the upcoming iPhone 14 series.
Apple is expected to announce as many as four models, including iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. While it is too early for Apple to make an announcement related to the upcoming iPhones, we expect the launch to take place in September this year if we go by previous launches.
Ahead of the launch, the price of the upcoming iPhones has already surfaced online. The iPhone 14 Pro could come with a starting price of $1,099, which is a $100 hike over the $999 iPhone 13 Pro. In India, the iPhone 13 Pro was launched for Rs 1,19,900. The iPhone 14 Pro Max, on the other hand, might also see a similar increase in price. So, it is rumored to cost $1,199 (approximately Rs 93,010) in the US.
The iPhone 14 is expected to borrow some design elements from the older iPhone 13 series. On the front, we may get to see some change. But, this might only be the case with the more expensive models, the iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro. Both the phones will reportedly feature a punch-hole display design, similar to most Android phones. The devices could have larger rear camera bumps as they may sport a new 48-megapixel sensor, which will talk about later. The standard iPhone 14 is said to have the older notch design that we have seen on the iPhone 13 series.
This time around, there might not be a mini model as several reports have suggested that Apple has planned to introduce a new model in the series and this might be the iPhone 14 Max. The latter will have a large display and might be positioned between the regular and Pro variants. All the smartphones will likely have a boxy design, similar to the previous versions.
The Pro models are expected to come with 120Hz displays, while the other two models will reportedly arrive with the standard 60Hz panels. The iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro will reportedly launch with a 6.1-inch OLED display that operates at 1170 x 2532 resolution. The new iPhone Max model and the Pro Max could have a larger 6.7-inch screen with support for 1284 x 2778 resolution.
This year, the company might not launch all the iPhone 14 models with the new chipset. The leaks have so far suggested that the standard iPhone 14 variant will feature last year’s Bionic A15 chip, whereas the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max will reportedly be powered by a Bionic A16 chipset.
