After Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was not allowed to speak at an event in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Nationalist Congress Party leader Supriya Sule called it an insult to Maharashtra.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule on Tuesday said Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was not allowed to speak in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a temple inauguration event in Dehu, Pune.
Reacting to the incident, Supriya Sule said, "This is very serious, painful, shocking, and unjustified. This is an insult to Maharashtra. If our Deputy Chief Minister is on the stage, then it is his right to speak."
She said that while BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, who is the Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, spoke at the event, Ajit Pawar was not allowed to speak.
DCM of Maharashtra & Guardian Minister of Pune Hon. @AjitPawarSpeaks Dada was not allowed to speak in presence of PM Hon. @narendramodi Ji at program in Dehu, Pune. However, LOP @Dev_Fadnavis was permitted to talk. This is an insult for Maharashtra.
"Ajit Pawar's office had requested [the PMO] that he be allowed to speak at the event as he is the Deputy CM and also the guardian minister of the district. The PMO did not approve it," Sule said, adding she was sharing this information after verifying it from Pawar's office.
