Commodore Ashok Kumar Rai, Commanding Officer of INS Agrani, Coimbatore, received the Vishisht Seva Medal at the Naval investiture ceremony of the Southern Naval Command held at Naval Base, Kochi, on Wednesday.
Vice-Admiral M.A. Hampiholi, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command, presented distinguished service awards announced for the year 2021 to the recipients at the ceremony, said a release issued by INS Agrani.
It said that the Vice-Admiral congratulated all the awardees and their family members for their unstinted support to service personnel in the performance of their duties.
The ceremonial event, traditionally conducted centrally for all awardees, was held within the command due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
The investiture ceremony was witnessed by a number of senior officers of the Indian Navy and their spouses.
