A 15-foot endangered whale shark was spotted on the shores of Andhra’s Srikakulam district on Thursday. After a short while, the injured shark managed to swim back to sea.
An injured whale shark was spotted on the shallow beach water in Vajrapukotturu Zone of Andhra Pradeh’s Srikakulam District on Thursday, February 24.
Upon learning about the shark, which is termed as the largest of any fish alive today, locals rushed to Chinnakottur shore to see it. The locals noticed that the endangered 15-foot whale shark was wounded.
Some youngsters even stood over the whale and took selfies. Fortunately, after a short while, the whale was able to swim back into the sea.
According to locals, this is the first time that a large whale has been spotted on the shore. In December, a giant 15-foot long whale shark was spotted on the coast of Visakhapatnam near Tantadi village and it was rescued by wildlife experts.
