Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath on Friday directed officials to impose fines on those dumping debris along roadsides in the R.R. Nagar zone. The instructions were issued during his routine visit to the zone.
During the interaction with residents, a complaint was raised about debris being dumped along roadsides in the Ideal Homes Layout area, causing inconvenience to commuters. Responding to the complaint, Mr. Giri Nath instructed BBMP officials, marshalls, and BSWML staff to conduct inspections, identify offenders, and impose penalties on those violating the rules.
Mr. Giri Nath also addressed concerns about increasing illegal activities in the KEB Park area of Anjana Nagar. He instructed BBMP officials to collaborate with police officers to conduct a thorough inspection and take legal action against those involved in such activities.
Another issue raised was sewage water entering Sompura lake. Responding to this, he directed the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) officials to immediately investigate the matter. He emphasised on the need to complete the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) work promptly to ensure only treated water flows into the lake.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), probing the death of contractor, Sachin Panchal, who allegedly ended his life in Bidar on December 26 last year, arrested five persons, including the prime accused Rajkumar Kapnoor, a former member of the Kalaburagi Mahanagara Palike, and reportedly a follower of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister, Priyank Kharge, on Friday.
