Indonesian security forces have killed the leader of militant group East Indonesia Mujahideen (MIT), which has ties with Islamic State, police said on September 19.
A joint operation by military and police personnel killed Ali Kalora in a shootout at a village on Sulawesi island on the afternoon of September 18, according to a police statement.
Another militant, identified as Jaka Ramadhan, also known as Ikrima, was also shot dead, police said, adding that a hunt was underway for four other MIT members.

Congress MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah said the event was organised following requests from the cricket franchise, and even the BJP had tweeted in favour of it. The police was vested with the responsibility of assessing the situation. Initially, police did not give consent for the victory parade, but subsequently gave clearance for conducting it at Chinnaswamy stadium.
