May 30, 2021 - The 105th running of the Indianapolis 500 is scheduled to take place in front of approximately 135,000 fans, about 40% of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's capacity. August 23, 2020 - Takuma Sato wins the 104th Indianapolis 500. The race takes place with no fans in the stands due to the coronavirus pandemic. Sato also won in 2017.
