The Indian Army rushed to evacuate civilians in Congo's Goma as Mount Nyiragongo, an active volcano, erupted on Saturday. The panicked residents of Goma city rushed to flee as the volcano, which had been inactive for nearly two decades, erupted on May 22. On Saturday, Mount Nyiragongo erupted, spewing lava, gases, and sediments, with some of it flowing onto major highways. The residents of Goma city rushed to evacuate and the Indian Army, whose HQ is located adjacent to the Goma airfield, helped civilians get to a safe place. The Indian Army has a significant presence in the Democratic Republic of Congo as part of MONUSCO, a UN peacekeeping mission headquartered in the Eastern town of Goma and bordering Rwanda.More Related News
