India vs West Indies: Captain Rohit Sharma heaped praise on Prasidh Krishna saying he had not seen a spell from a fast bowler like that in India in a long time after the young quick picked up 4 wickets in India's win in the 2nd ODI in Ahmedabad.
Young India pacer Prasidh Krishna said it was very flattering to receive high praise from Rohit Sharma after his match-winning spell in the 2nd ODI against the West Indies on Wednesday in Ahmedabad. Prasidh finished with figures of 4/12 in 9 overs as India successfully defended a below-par total of 237 in the 2nd ODI to seal an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the 3-match series.
Prasidh Krishna bowled 3 maiden overs after coming in as the first-change bowler, breaking the back of the West Indies batting unit. On a pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium that offered assistance to the pacers, Prasidh came in running and hit the deck hard to trouble the West Indies batters.
Prasidh got the scalps of Brandon King (18), Darren Bravo (1), stand-in captain Nicholas Pooran (9) before getting the last wicket -- Kemar Roach (0) -- to finish things off in the 46th over of the match.
Speaking after winning his first full-time series as ODI captain, Rohit Sharma said he had not seen a spell from a pacer in India like Prasidh's in a long, long time.
"I was a little surprised to see no dew. I have never seen a spell like that in India for a long time now. Bowled with a lot of pace and kept it going. The others complimented him," Rohit said.
Responding to the praise, Prasidh said: "That was something flattering for me because he (Rohit) has been playing cricket for lot of time. Coming from him, I am very happy."
