India vs West Indies: Senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is not part of the XI, handed debutant Avesh Khan his maiden India cap in the 3rd T20I in Kolkata.
25-year-old Madhya Pradesh fast bowler Avesh Khan made his India debut in the 3rd T20I against the West Indies at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday. He is the second debutant for India in the 3-match series after leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi got his maiden India cap in the first T20I.
Avesh Khan got his maiden India cap from senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar as India continued with the tradition of letting the senior members of team do the honours at the team huddle for the newcomer. It was senior leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal who handed the maiden India cap for Ravi Bishnoi in the first T20I on Wednesday at the same venue.

Avesh Khan recently became the most expensive uncapped Indian player in the history of the IPL auction after being picked by Lucknow Supergiants for 10 crores.
Avesh made his IPL debut in 2017 but only played one game. It was only in the 2021 season that he became a regular in the Delhi Capitals playing XI. In 16 matches for the franchise, he took 24 wickets at an economy rate of 7.37.
Avesh was one of the performers for the Delhi Capitals franchise since joining the team for INR 70 lakh a couple of years ago. Notably, the 25-year-old pacer ended the IPL 2021 as the second-highest wicket-taker, with Harshal Patel the only one ahead of him.
The 25-year-old has played 27 first-class games and picked up 100 wickets at an average of 23.42 while 17 wickets from 22 List A matches. He has 65 wickets in 48 T20Is at an impressive average of 21.30 and an economy of 7.78.
