India vs Sri Lanka: Virat Kohli, who is playing his 100th Test in Mohali, became only the sixth batter to amass 8000 runs in Test cricket during the series opener against Sri Lanka in Mohali on Friday.
Virat Kohli marked his 100th Test on Friday by setting yet another batting record during the first Test of the ongoing two-match series between India and Sri Lanka at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on Friday. Kohli became the 6th Indian batter to amass 8000 runs in Test cricket and the fifth fastest batter in the country to reach the milestone.
Kohli joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar (15921), Rahul Dravid (13288), Sunil Gavaskar (10122), VVS Laxman (8781) and Virender Sehwag (8586) after he went past the 8000-run mark. Overall, Kohli has become the 33rd batter to amass 8000 career runs in Test cricket.

Notably, Kohli is the 12th Indian to play 100 Tests after Sachin Tendulkar (200), Rahul Dravid (163), VVS Laxman (134), Anil Kumble (132), Kapil Dev (131), Sunil Gavaskar (125), Dilip Vengsarkar (116), Sourav Ganguly (113), Ishant Sharma (105), Harbhajan Singh (103), and Virender Sehwag (103).
The crowd in the Indian city of Mohali cheered as Kohli walked out to bat after the fall of Agarwal's wicket and applauded every run that the right-handed batter scored.
The 33-year-old was also felicitated by the home board before the start of play with batting great and current India coach Rahul Dravid handing him a commemorative cap and a memento in the presence of his Bollywood actress wife Anushka Sharma.
