India vs Pakistan: We are not overthinking, says Shadab Khan ahead of mega match

Asia Cup 2022: India and Pakistan are set to face each other on Sunday, August 28 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan doesn’t want his teammates to clutter their minds with over-thinking prior to the Asia Cup 2022 match against Rohit Sharma’s India on Sunday, August 28 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Shadab, also the vice-captain of the Pakistan T20I team, reckoned that Sunday’s match is likely to set the tone for the Men in Green for the rest of the tournament.
Shadab also said that staying calm helped Pakistan beat India when the two teams faced each other in the T20 World Cup 2021 match last year in October.
“Like any competition, Sunday’s match is important as it will set the tone for the remaining matches. But we are not over-thinking, a tactic that worked for all of us last year,” Shadab was quoted as saying in his column on PCB’s official website.
Earlier, Pakistan were dealt with a blow after Shaheen Shah Afridi was ruled out due to a knee injury. Shadab reckoned that not having Shaheen in their lineup would be a blow for them. However, he showed faith on Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah and Shahnawaz Dahani to deliver.
“Shaheen Shah Afridi’s absence is a blow as he is our main strike bowler. But the beauty of cricket is that it’s not an individual but a team game. We have many match-winning bowlers in our family and I have confidence in Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Shahnawaz Dahani and others, who will surely step-up and will succeed in filling the big boots of Shaheen,” he added.
