Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz claimed that he had a clear mind to attack when he came out to bat after scoring an impressive 20-ball 42 against India on Sunday. Nawaz was named as the Man Of The Match for his all-round performance.
Pakistan's match-winner against India on Sunday, Mohammad Nawaz, said that he had a clear mind to attack when he was sent into bat by the team management up the order.
India and Pakistan clashed for the second time at this year's Asia Cup, but this time in the Super Fours stage. After having won the toss, Babar Azam sent India into bat. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul got India off to the best start possible and the momentum was then carried on by Virat Kohli, who seemed to be regaining his touch. Kohli scored a 44-ball 60 as India made 181 runs in their 20 overs.
In response, Pakistan lost Azam's wicket early but Mohammed Rizwan and Nawaz stitched together an incredible partnership to take the game away from India.
The latter scored 42 runs in just 20 balls as Pakistan won the match by five wickets and was also adjudged the Man Of The Match for his all-round performance on the day. He also picked up one wicket for just 25 runs in his four overs.
At the post-match press conference, as quoted by AP, Nawaz was asked about the decision send him higher up the order. The 28-year-old said that the team management might have taken the call. Nawaz also said that he had a clear mind to attack from the start.
"Management must have taken the call. I had a clear mind to attack," said Nawaz.
