India's star batter Virat Kohli has heaped praise on Pakistan captain Babar Azam, saying that the 27-year-old is someone who is always keen to learn.
Azam has been enjoying a great run in international cricket at the moment. While his time at this year's Asia Cup hasn't gone according to plan, Kohli claims that it is not a surprise that the Pakistan skipper is in a rich vein of form.
Speaking after the Super Fours clash on Sunday, which Pakistan won by five wickets, Kohli heaped praise on Babar by saying that he has always had good conversations with the Pakistani star.
The former India captain said that there is always respect between him and Azam and said that the Pakistan skipper is someone who is always eager to learn.
"Babar is a very nice guy. I have always had good conversations with him. Kinship, I am not sure of but there is respect, there is always respect. He was always keen to learn. He spoke to me after our game in the 2019 World Cup. I have always said he is keen to learn and there’s no surprise that he is playing like this in all formats of the game. He is obviously a very talented player," said Kohli.
Kohli also opened up about the mutual respect between India and Pakistan cricket teams and said that it is always nice meeting Azam and his men. He said that the Pakistani players are very friendly and get along with their Indian counterparts well.
