Mayank Agarwal headlined India's efforts on Day 1 of the second Test against New Zealand in Mumbai with his 4th Test hundred, an innings of sheer class and perseverance even as he saw his colleagues depart at regular intervals at the other end. Despite a stunning spell of left-arm spin bowling from Ajaz Patel, India went to stumps at 221 for four thanks to Agarwal's 120 not out.
Shubman Gill had earlier given a good account of himself before falling for 44.
