India vs England: If Hardik Pandya is the playing XI, he should be played as an all-rounder- Sunil Gavaskar

England tour of India 2021: Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has said that if India pick Hardik Pandya in the playing XI then he should play as an all-rounder and bowl a few overs. 

As seen in the last two ODIs against England in the ongoing three-match series, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya wasn’t used as a bowler by Virat Kohli. Several critics and fans have disapproved of the idea to use Pandya just as a lower-order batter and instead questioned India captain Virat Kohli why he wasn’t given a few overs to bowl. Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has reflected on the same and said that to maintain the balance of the side, it is essential that if the team fields Hardik Pandya in the playing XI then it should be for his all-rounder abilities and given three-four overs to bowl.
