India vs England: Batting great Sunil Gavaskar lauded Shikhar Dhawan, saying the India opener overcame the chatter around his form to hit the match-winning 98 in the first ODI against England on Tuesday.
Batting great and former captain Sunil Gavaskar heaped rich praise on Shikhar Dhawan, saying it was heartening to see the senior opener forget the chatter around his form and age and deliver in the first ODI against England on Tuesday. Gavaskar pointed out that there has been so much talk about Shikhar Dhawan's age and potential availability for the next 50-over World Cup, scheduled to be held in 2023 and that it was nice to see "a team man" overcome a poor run of scores and do well for India at the highest level. Shikhar Dhawan, 35, lost his place in the T20I side after playing just one game during the 5-match series against England in Ahmedabad. Dhawan is no longer a regular in the Test squad but his ODI numbers have been impressive. However, with quite a few young openers waiting in the wings, there is pressure on Dhawan to keep delivering in his favourite format.More Related News
