Doha: Minister of External Affairs of India, H E Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, stated that what is happening in the Middle East region affects all countries, including India, due to the fallout from the war on the Gaza Strip.
In a panel discussion within the Doha Forum 2024, Dr. Jaishankar highlighted that it is true that India is far geographically but it is connected to this region, adding that there is half a million Indians living in mediterranean countries, and the trade volume between India and those countries is around $80bn, in addition to more than 10 million Indians living in the Gulf, with a trade volume reaching $180bn.
This means that incidents that ravage the region have created a state of instability at the regional level, which is degenerating day by day, and their repercussions are felt in the rise in shipping costs, trade movement, and other related matters, he highlighted.
Dr. Jaishankar asserted that the pivotal matter in the region in Palestine, warning of the dramatic expansion of the conflict. He added that there are numerous challenges and conflicts that require diplomacy that includes multiple innovations to navigate these challenges.
