India followed up their victories in Melbourne in 2018 and 2020 with a first-ever win in Centurion to mark their third consecutive success in a Boxing Day Test match.
India went 1-0 up in their three-match Test series against South Africa and, in the process, recorded their third consecutive win in a Boxing Day Test. India have played the Boxing Day Test two other times in the last three years, both of them at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia.
While they won the 2018 Test by 137 runs, they won the 2020 Test by eight wickets. On Thursday, Ravichandran Ashwin took the last two South African wickets off consecutive deliveries to seal a 113-run win for India.
