
India ramps up engagement for Tamil rights in Sri Lanka

MK Stalin urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grant citizenship to Tamil refugees from Sri Lanka during his first visit to the national capital as Chief Minister on Thursday.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday held two interesting meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the importance that New Delhi places on issues such as negotiated devolution of powers for Sri Lankan Tamils and their aspirations for equality, justice, and peace. The citizenship of Sri Lankan refugees in the state, a permanent solution to the fishermen's issue, and the return of Katchchateevu to the Indian Union were among the issues raised by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. In a separate meeting, the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Gopal Baglay, met with a five-member Tamil National Alliance (TNA) delegation led by R Sampanthan, Member of Parliament, at India House in Colombo.More Related News
