India haven't got results in World Cups but aren’t playing bad cricket: Rohit Sharma

WI vs IND: T20I series: Since the 2013 Champions Trophy win, India haven't won a single world title regardless of the format they played in.
India ODI and T20I skipper Rohit Sharma admitted that the Men in Blue haven’t got a lot of results in their favour in world tournaments over the last few years. Last year, India failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2021 after initially losing to Babar Azam’s Pakistan and Kane Williamson’s New Zealand.
Despite winning their last three matches against Namibia, Scotland and Afghanistan, India failed to advance beyond the first round. Rohit, who took over as India’s limited-overs captain after the mega event in Oman and the UAE, said that India haven’t played conservative cricket,
The Nagpur-born Rohit put forth his opinions before India’s opening T20I against Nicholas Pooran’s West Indies on Friday, July 29 at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad.
"We haven't got the results in the World Cups but that doesn't mean we were playing bad cricket for so many years. I don't agree that we were playing conservative cricket. If you lose an odd game in the World Cup, it seems we were doing things wrong and we didn't take chances.
“But if you look [at it], we won probably 80% [71%] of our games leading into the World Cup. If you are conservative, you won't win these many games,” Rohit was quoted as saying.
"Yes, we didn't qualify [for the knockouts in 2021], but that happens. It doesn't mean we were not playing freely. Lately also we haven't made any such changes; we are playing in the same manner but we have given the freedom to the players to play their game. Because if you play freely, you will get the performances,” Rohit stated.
Rohit, who recently became India’s Test skipper as well, felt that India prefer to play the brand of cricket that’s likely to produce an odd failure here and there.
