The Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju said that India has the pride to place knowledge above all.
Terming education as the cornerstone in the foundation of nation-building, Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju on Friday said that India has the pride to keep knowledge above all.
The union law and justice minister was attending the eighth convocation of North East Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) and he urged the students to harmonise traditional learning in philosophy, law and medicine with the modern Indian learning ecosystem.
The Union Ministry of Education has designated NERIST as a deemed-to-be university.
The union minister went on to say that the National Education Policy 2020 "has a holistic vision of transforming the way children and youth will be educated and making learning a part of personal development while also serving the need of society."
He added that the NEP 2020, will help in developing new integrated courses that will assist in securing diverse career options in several fields while also emphasising the need for moral education and awareness of Indian culture.
The union minister further remarked that according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, a student that comes out of NEP 2020 will have a higher level of self-confidence and will be better prepared to face future challenges.
He went on to add, "Science and technology are duly recognised as the vehicle to take India into the front ranks of the nations of the world. There is a need to build a large pool of scientific and technical manpower to aid our progress."
