
India Amends Rules For Registration Of Foreigners, Electronic Application Now Possible

The registration officer will now recognise the genuineness of the application received through electronic mode.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has amended rules regarding the registration of foreigners allowing "any application or information" under these rules submitted to the Registration Officer through the "electronic mode".
These rules will now be called the Registration of Foreigners (Amendment) Rules, 2021 which has given relief in the process of registration of foreigners who now nod need to be present physically for the registration with the registration officer.
The registration officer will now recognise the genuineness of the application received through electronic mode and may call the applicant for physical appearance if necessary.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Registration of Foreigners Act, 1939, the Central government made these rules further to amend the Registration of Foreigners Rule, 1992.
