The Income Tax (IT) department on March 8 carried out raids on businesses and close aides of Maharashtra Transport minister Anil Parab. Premises owned by a Mumbai-based cable operator and a state government employee were also raided by the department.
Raids were carried out at a total of 26 premises spread throughout Mumbai, Pune, Sangli and Ratnagiri during the operation.

A total of Rs 66 lakh in cash was seized by the IT Department during the raids, in addition to digital data and documentary evidence.
During the raids, the IT department found that Anil Parab had purchased land in Dapoli in 2017 for Rs 1 crore. This land, registered in 2019, was subsequently sold to Sadanand Kadam in 2020 for Rs. 1.10 crore after a resort was built on that land.
Officials familiar with the case said the parties concerned did not report the construction of the resort to the authorities and paid stamp duty only for the registration of the land once in 2019 and again in 2020. The IT Department also suspects that over Rs 6 crore was spent on the construction of the resort in Dapoli.
