IMD predicts light rain for Delhi today, dip in temperature likely

As per the prediction by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light rain along with thunder or lightning is likely in Delhi on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the mercury is expected to hit 40 degrees Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that Delhi is likely to receive rain accompanied by thunder or lightning on Wednesday, providing a much-needed respite from the sweltering heat.
The IMD wrote, "Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi and East Uttar Pradesh during June 16 and 18." (sic)

According to the weather department, the minimum temperature is likely to hover around 31 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, while the maximum temperature is expected to hit 40 degrees Celsius.
On Tuesday, the minimum temperature was around 31.2 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, while the maximum temperature was recorded at 39.6 degrees Celsius.
According to the weather department, the pre-monsoon activities are expected to begin on June 16 and Delhi is expected to be hit by rain and thunderstorms for a week starting from today till June 20. A major respite from the scorching heat is likely from June 16, said IMD.
Furthermore, the mercury is expected to dip by seven to eight notches in the next two to three days.
