Illinois becomes first state to ban police from lying to minors during interrogations
CNN
Illinois this week became the first state in the nation to ban law enforcement from using deceptive tactics when interrogating minors.
Under the law, confessions made by juvenile suspects who were deceived by law enforcement officers during the interrogation process will be deemed "inadmissible as evidence." Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed the legislation on Thursday, and it is set to go into effect in January. The Illinois Legislature had passed the bill, Senate Bill 2122, in May with bipartisan support.More Related News
