Madhya Pradesh culture minister Usha Thakur has said the illegally-run madrasas in the state will be closed.
Following the footsteps of the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government, the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led Madhya Pradesh government has decided to shut down all madrasas in the state that are flouting norms.
The state has started investigating all madrassas. State tourism, culture, and spirituality minister Usha Thakur said, “Madrasas, which are not operating according to the rules, will be closed.”
Thakur said the state government had received information about a few madrasas in the state which are running only on paper.

“Also, there are some madrasas which have just one room. These are running with tables and boards in only one room,” she said.
The tourism minister said strict action would be taken against the ones found guilty.
Madhya Pradesh Children's Commission has been investigating such madrasas being run illegally.
