Illegal mining allegations against Channi a deliberate ploy by BJP, says Cong MP

Punjab chief minister (CM) Charanjit Singh Channi got a clean chit by the Ropar administration in the illegal mining case on Saturday.
The charges of involvement in the illegal mining case were framed against Channi by the BJP. It was a deliberate ploy, said Congress MP Ranveet Singh Bittu after Punjab chief minister (CM) Charanjit Singh Channi got a clean chit in the case by the Ropar administration on Saturday.
In a conversation with India Today, the Congress MP also slammed the AAP government for seeking the Governor's intervention and alleging that illegal sand mining was taking place under the aegis of CM Charanjit Singh Channi.
Involving the Punjab CM's name was a conspiracy by outsiders, he said.
The Prime Minister will be visiting Punjab to address rallies on February 14, 16 and 17.
"The PM is coming to address rallies. If he wants, Congress can provide 10,000 workers to fill up the seats during his address. Otherwise, he will blame the Congress party for the empty seats and slam Channi, the MP said, referring to January's incident when the PM's visit to Punjab was cut short following a "major security lapse" when his cavalcade was stuck on a flyover for 20 minutes due to blockade by farmers.
Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi earlier said that there were neither any security lapses nor any attempt to attack PM Modi during his visit to the state.
