IIT Roorkee organises SHE Lecture Series 2022 on Women's Day

IIT Roorkee has organised a SHE Lecture Series 2022 on the occasion of Women's Day virtually.
Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) organized the 'SHE Lecture Series-2022' on the occasion of International Women's Day, which was held virtually from March 2, 2022, to March 8, 2022. The lecture series was organized in association with the Gender Advancement for Transforming Institutions (GATI) Program, IIT Roorkee, the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), Wellness Centre, and the Technology Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development Society (TIDES), IIT Roorkee.
The sessions were held on topics of mental wellness, work-life balance, and the role of women in entrepreneurship and financial independence. The last three lectures and the final session of the SHE Lecture Series were held on the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8, 2022.
The final session was chaired by, Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, Director IIT Roorkee where he spoke about the implementation of GATI at IIT Roorkee and announced that IIT Roorkee will establish the inclusion and Diversity Committee which will be a standing committee.
Additionally, the lecture series was delivered by women leaders and experts in various areas such as gender sensitization, sexual harassment, equity and diversity in STEM, the role of women in technology and innovation, leadership in STEMM, and financial independence and work-life balance.
Prof. Pranita P. Sarangi, Associate professor, Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering and Nodal officer, GATI-IIT Roorkee, said, “The scenery of the world for women has changed over time and decades. Recognizing the role of women in science, not only as beneficiaries but also as agents of change at all levels of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
