
II PU results: Indu PU College in Kootur bags first rank in Arts for 10th consecutive year in Karnataka

Principal says most students who get admission in the residential college are from economically poor families in the impoverished region. They don’t go home, not even for any festival, till the completion of the examination as they concentrate on their studies.
Just as the results of pre-university college examinations were out on April 8, the Indu PU College at Kottur in Vijayanagara district of Karnataka went into celebration as one of its students, L.R. Sanjana Bai, emerged the topper in the Arts stream. She had secured 597 marks out of 600.
This is the It is the 10th consecutive year that the college secured the top position in the Arts stream in Karnataka. With her 597 marks, Sanjana Bai is also an all-time topper in her college.
K. Nirmala from Sri Panchamasali PU College at Itagi in Huvina Hadagali taluk of the same district has bagged the second rank in the Arts stream by securing 596 marks out of 600. The college is run by the same parent institution.
Gautami B., another student from Kottur’s Indu PU College, bagged the 9th rank in the Arts stream by securing 591 marks out of 600.
Vagishayya, Principal of Kottur’s Indu College, told The Hindu that nothing but hard work was behind the extraordinary feat.
“Most of the students who get admission in our college are from economically poor families in the impoverished region. They are given better education and training here. The students who pass with 40% marks in SSLC will also get more than 90% marks in second PU examination because of the hard work,” he said.
Mr. Vagishayya said that the students in his residential college don’t go home, not even for any festival, till the completion of the examination as they concentrate on their studies.
