ENG vs IND, 1st ODI, Mohammed Shami picked up three wickets in the opening match as India beat England by 10 wickets at Kennington Oval in London.
Fast bowler Mohammed Shami reckoned that one needs to have clarity of thoughts in order to taste success on a consistent basis at the highest level. On Tuesday, July 12, Shami picked up his 150th wicket in ODIs during India’s first ODI against England at the Kennington Oval in London.
The speedster accomplished the feat after he dismissed Jos Buttler, who was starting to look ominous, having scored 30 runs off 32 balls with six fours. Shami also got the important wickets of Ben Stokes, who failed to open his account, and Craig Overton.
Shami, who has been donning the national colours for almost a decade, said that a bowler needs to have a big heart to adjust to different conditions. The pacer put forth his opinions while speaking to India’s bowling coach, Paras Mhambrey.
“It’s necessary to clear your mind and you are pretty aware of what you need to do, what lengths to hit. But if you have a big heart, then you can adjust in any format,” Shami was quoted as saying in a video uploaded on BCCI’s official Twitter handle.
Shami finished with impressive bowling figures of 7-0-31-3 with 29 dot balls as India beat England by 10 wickets. Moreover, the Men in Blue took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series with the second match to take place on Thursday, July 14.
Shami, along with Jasprit Bumrah, bowled exceptionally as England were bowled out for 110 after being put in to bat first. Bumrah became the Player of the Match for picking up his maiden six-wicket haul in the 50-over format.
Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan's unbeaten 114-run stand made sure that India won the match with as many as 188 balls to spare.
