Idolised Sachin Tendulkar as a kid, fan of Virat Kohli since I started playing: Shubman Gill

IPL 2022, LSG vs GT: Shubman Gill said he grew up idolising Sachin Tendulkar and then started admiring Virat Kohli once he started playing professional cricket. Gill has so far scored 4 half-centuries for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022.
Shubman Gill, who has enjoyed a great IPL campaign with Gujarat Titans, said he idolised Sachin Tendulkar growing up and once the Master Blaster retired, he started looking up to Virat Kohli.
Shubman Gill, 22, has already played 10 Tests and 3 ODIs for India after some terrific performances as India's vice-captain in the Under-19 World Cup back in 2018. Gill was signed up by Kolkata Knight Riders and for the next few years, he was a crucial part of the side before being released ahead of the 2022 player auction.
Shubman Gill was then drafted by Gujarat Titans and he has been in good form, having scored four half-centuries already. After a slight dip, Gill has now come back strongly with back-to-back fifties against Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants.
On Tuesday, while the others in his side failed, Shubman Gill held the GT innings together with an unbeaten 63.
Before the match, Shubman Gill said he idolised Sachin Tendulkar while growing up as a kid and then once he started playing professional cricket, he started admiring Virat Kohli.
"While growing up, it was Sachin sir and once he retired, I started playing a bit more and started playing the game a bit more, I was always a fan of Virat bhai," Gill said.
Shubman Gill has certainly looked up to the right men in cricket. Sachin Tendulkar is the only cricketer with 100 international hundreds and 200 Tests under his belt while Virat Kohli, besides his international cricket heroics, holds the record for most runs in a single IPL season and is the leading run-scorer in the history of the tournament.
