India innings lost its steam with early wickets of both openers followed by wickets at regular intervals. The Indian team was reeling at 115-6 after 17 overs, with Suryakumar Yadav and R. Ashwin at the crease. Lungi Ngidi was the pick of the bowlers for South Africa as he picked up four wickets.
India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat against South Africa in their T20 World Cup match in Perth on October 30, 2022.
In the only change to the India XI, Deepak Hooda came in place of Axar Patel.
Lungi Ngidi replaced Tabraiz Shamsi in the South African team.
