ICC T20I Rankings: India batter Smriti Mandhana moved into the top 3 in the batting charts after her match-winning fifty against Pakistan in the Commonwealth Games 2022.
India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana moved back into the top 3 in the ICC T20I Rankings against women after a stellar start to her Commonwealth Games 2022 campaign in Birmingham, UK. Smriti Mandhana hit a match-winning fifty against arch-rivals Pakistan in their Pool A match earlier this week.
Smriti Mandhana has moved from the 5th spot to the 3rd spot in the ICC T20I Rankings for women's batters while opener Shafali Verma, who hit a solid 48 against Australia in the first-ever women's cricket match at the Commonwealth Games, has dropped two spots to No.5.
India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, are looking to script history in the first-ever appearance of cricket in the Commonwealth Games. India lost to Australia in their opening match in a heartbreaking manner after dominating the most part of the match but bounced back to beat Pakistan. India will face Barbados in their final group-stage match on Wednesday and a win will help them secure a spot in the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, Australia's Ash Gardner, who broke Indian hearts with a match-winning show in the opener has hugely benefitted from her exploits at the Games.
The all-rounder’s match-winning effort against India got her campaign off to a great start, with four tidy overs going for just 23 runs before she smashed an unbeaten 52* from just 35 balls to lead the Aussies to the win.
But better was to come for Gardner against Barbados, with the off-spinner returning extraordinary figures of 2/6 from four overs, playing her part in a huge win.
Those performances mean the 25-year-old is up four places to No.3 position on the all-rounder rankings, five places to 11th on the batting rankings, and 19 places to 26th on the bowling rankings.
