ICC has done well with spacing of World Cups, keeps the charm among fans alive, says Rohit Sharma

England tour of India: Veteran opener Rohit Sharma has pointed out the need for spacing World Cups, as the ICC have, in order to maintain the charm of these mega events among fans.
There is nothing bigger than the ICC World Cup tournaments, for teams and fans, in cricket. Ever since the inaugural 2007 World T20, the number of these mega-events have seen a significant rise. However, the one in 2016 -which was the sixth edition of the T20 World Cup- was the last World cup in the 20-over format. But there wasn’t a significant gap considering that the 50-over World Cup, which had an extraordinary end to it, was played in 2019. While the T20 World Cup was scheduled for 2020, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 7th edition of the T20 World Cup will be held in India, during the October-November window, this year. India’s veteran opener and limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma has backed this spacing by the ICC given that these gaps between two mega-events help maintain the anticipation and charm among fans.More Related News
