ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023: India have been drawn in Group 2 alongside Pakistan, England, West Indies and Ireland. Harmanpreet Kaur's team will open their campaign against Pakistan on February 12 in Cape Town.
The International Cricket Council on Monday, October 3 unveiled the fixtures for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2023, starting February 10 in South Africa. Last edition's finalists India have been drawn in Group 2 alongside arch-rivals Pakistan, England, West Indies, and Ireland.
Group 1, meanwhile, will have Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Defending champions Australia will open their campaign against New Zealand on February 11 in Paarl, a day after hosts South Africa square off against Sri Lanka in Cape Town.
India begin their campaign against Pakistan on February 12 in Cape Town. Notably, Harmanpreet Kaur's team is also set to face Pakistan in the Asia Cup campaign in Bangladesh. India had reached the final of last edition in 2021 only to lose to Australia at the MCG.
The women's team is growing in confidence after having won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games. India lost to Australia at the CWG in Birmingham, as well.
Notably, both the semi-finals and the final will have reserve days. Cape Town is scheduled to host the big final on February 26 with reserve day scheduled for February 27.
Each team will play against the other teams in their group once in the group stage. Top 2 teams at the end of the group stage in each group will qualify for the semi-finals.
