Ian Chappell slams Cricket Australia for naming Steve Smith as Test vice-captain: Cheating is cheating

Ian Chappell finds it hard to understand why Steve Smith was selected as the Australian Test team's vice-captain even after being banned from the sport for cheating in the 2018 Cape Town Test.

Ian Chappell came down hard on Cricket Australia (CA) for appointing Steve Smith as the national Test team's vice-captain despite the former skipper having served a 12-month suspension from the sport for his involvement in the 2018 ball-tampering scandal.

Smith was named vice-captain while Pat Cummins appointed the skipper of the Test team after Tim Paine resigned from the post following a 'sexting' scandal which has taken Australian cricket by storm. While the appointment of Cummins was hailed by former players and pundits, Smith's promotion just 3 years after 'Sandpaper-gate', did not sit well with some.
