Indian ODI captain for the West Indies series, Shikhar Dhawan said that he does not know why he does not get selected for the T20 format in the Indian team. While Dhawan captained the touring India side to Sri Lanka in 2021, he has not been in the scheme of things for the main Indian side for a while now.
Dhawan said that he does not think much about it and focuses on how he can give his best.
“I honestly don’t know about it, maybe it could be the reason. I don’t want to go deep about it I have not played T20 for India for a long time now, I don’t know where I see myself. I look to make the most out of every opportunity I am getting. Be it IPL, domestic cricket, or ODI, I just want to do well, and that is the only thing under my control,” was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
Asked about his exploits in the ODI cricket and what he thinks about the future of the format Dhawan says that he likes the charm of the 50-over format.
“I really enjoy playing ODI cricket. It’s an art and still has charm. I love playing it. Like Test and T20 have their values, ODI cricket is also exciting. I really like it,” Dhawan said.
Asked about Virat Kohli and his form, Dhawan backed the former skipper to get back into form.
