ENG vs SA, 2nd Test: Ben Foakes scored his second Test century against South Africa on Friday, August 25 at Old Trafford in Manchester.
England wicketkeeper Ben Foakes was elated after he scored his second Test century in the ongoing Test against South Africa at Old Trafford in Manchester. Foakes stayed unbeaten on 113 with nine fours and helped the Three Lions take a massive first innings lead of 264 runs.
Foakes was also involved in a 173-run partnership with Ben Stokes, who registered his maiden century as England’s Test captain.
After Stokes got out to Kagiso Rabada, Foakes stitched together a handy 41-run stand with Stuart Broad, who threw his bat around to score 21 off 14 balls.
The 29-year-old Foakes, in the meantime, rated his century higher than the one he scored against Sri Lanka four years ago in Galle.
"It was amazing. It's been an interesting journey since my debut, being out the side and get the odd chance. To get a hundred now, I appreciate it more than my debut one,” Foakes was quoted as saying on BBC Test Match Special.
Foakes also reckoned that England are in a commanding position in the ongoing match. At the close of play on the second day, South Africa are trailing by 241 runs with all their wickets intact in their second innings.
