I am now an elected chief minister, not a selected one, says Goa CM Pramod Sawant
India Today
In an exclusive interview with India Today, Goa CM Pramod Sawant said he is counting on the support of the Centre to make the state an international tourist hub.
The BJP has reposed its faith in me and I see it as a big responsibility, Goa CM Pramod Sawant told India Today in an exclusive interview. The chief minister, who assumed office for a second term on Monday, reiterated that the BJP will take Goa ahead on the path of development.
Pramod Sawant went further to say that the central government has been very supportive of him and he expects such support to continue in order to be able to make Goa an international tourist hub. Such support will allow us to provide jobs for unemployed youth and restart mining operations, he added.
On his political opponents referring to him as an 'accidental CM', Pramod Sawant said, "Now, I am selected and not elected."

Addressing a press conference earlier in the day, the Goa chief minister had announced that the state government will work to fulfill all assurances made in the BJP's manifesto on priority.
Former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who was also the BJP's Goa election in charge, admitted that there are challenges facing the state but the government led by Pramod Sawant will be able to offer development and peace.
"This is just the semi-final. Even in 2024, there will be Modi all the way. I would say that the Modi wave hasn't ebbed at all. Now, there will be a Modi Tsunami," Fadnavis was quoted as saying.
