
Hyderabad wakes up to sudden rainfall; several areas waterlogged

Heavy rains lashed parts of Hyderabad on Wednesday morning. This brought huge relief from the summer heat but several low-lying areas reported waterlogging and inundation.
The citizens of Hyderabad woke up to heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms on Wednesday morning, bringing much-needed respite amid soaring temperatures in the city. Parts of the city saw unprecedented rainfall which triggered waterlogging and minor inundation.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) received a good amount of rainfall. Sitafalmandi recorded 72.8 mm of rainfall, followed by Bansilalpet 67 mm. Marredpally also received 61.8 mm of rain, the IMD data showed.

A hoarding also fell down in the city under Hussaini Alam police station limits. However, no loss of life has been reported. The State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) teams were deployed across the city to clear stagnation and remove the uprooted trees to allow vehicular movement on roads. It has also requested citizens to dial 040-29555500 for further assistance.
