A fan of the Spanish crime drama TV series, Money Heist, formed a gang of five and kidnapped people from his known circle for ransom.
Inspired by a Spanish crime drama TV series, Money Heist, an auto driver who belongs to the family of a notorious house burglar formed a gang of five and kidnapped people from his known circle for ransom.
As per the report published by the New Indian Express (TNIE), the accused identified as Gunjapogu Suresh, brother of a notorious house burglar, Gunjapogu Sudhakar, kidnapped and extorted people for money.
The police said, "A kidnap case registered on February 6 led to the driver who is also the mastermind behind the kidnap plan. His gang of four and another woman involved in the case is absconding."
West Zone DCP Joel Davis told TNIE, "The accused Suresh targeted people from his known circle and abducted their teenaged kids. He abducted 19-year-old Prashanth from Gudimalkapur and demanded Rs 50,000, teams worked on the case and detected the case with four members taken into custody."
While the auto driver took the lead role in the show named Professor, he hired other people calling them Berlin, Tokyo, Rio and Nairobi just like in the show.
The gang would then abduct the person and demand ransom.
While in the recent case, he sought Rs 50,000, in some other cases he demanded lakhs.
