HWDSB schools are closed today, and Catholic schools are open but buses are cancelled

Schools in the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board have a snow day today, as all in-person, e-learning and child-care programs are cancelled today. The administrative buildings are also closed because of the weather.
In the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, school transportation is cancelled, but schools, child-care centres, adult education programs and administrative buildings are open.
Mohawk College and McMaster University campuses are open today.
Mohawk College tweeted that people should "use extra care and caution when travelling during winter weather conditions."
"McMaster University is open today," McMaster tweeted. "We will continue to monitor the weather and advise our community if anything changes."
Environment Canada forecasts two to four centimetres of snow in Hamilton on Friday.
At times, that snow will be heavy, and there will be local blowing snow ending late this morning. After that, the forecast says, there will be sun and cloud and a 40 per cent chance of flurries. Temperatures will reach -3 C.
Temperatures will drop to -10 C tonight, or -14 C with the wind chill, the agency says.
Saturday will see a high of -2 C, Environment Canada says, or -18 C with the wind chill. Sunday will likely bring more snow.
