Hurricane Ida death toll rises to at least 66 nationwide as recovery efforts continue

Hurricane Ida left a trail of destroyed homes, flooded buildings, downed power lines and at least 66 deaths as of Saturday when it slammed into the Gulf Coast nearly a week ago and made its way through the Northeast.
The Louisiana Department of Health reported the deaths of two more nursing home patients on Saturday who were evacuated to facilities before the storm, bringing the total in that state to 12. Mississippi and Alabama reported two deaths each related to the storm, while New York reported at least 16 deaths, Pennsylvania reported at least five deaths, Maryland reported one death, and Connecticut reported one death. The Valle family in Cranford, New Jersey, was gathering things in their basement to bring to a safe area when an entire wall collapsed from the flooding.More Related News
