PUCL, a human rights group, released a report documenting 39 incidents of hate crimes against Christians in Karnataka.
The People’s Union of Civil Liberties (PUCL) claims that there were 39 recent incidents of hate crime against Christians in Karnataka. According to a report titled, 'Hate crimes on Christians in Karnataka, 2021', the members of the Christian community especially in rural Karnataka continue to face discrimination and threats of violence.
The report states that apart from the documented attacks, there are several other cases that are undocumented due to various legal and financial constraints. It also states that in most cases, Christians have been forced to shut down their places of worship and are banned from assembling for their Sunday prayers.
