Human rights group alleges widespread abuse in Syrian detention centers holding suspected ISIS members

A human rights group has reported widespread abuse, including torture, in Syrian detention facilities holding thousands of suspected ISIS members and their relatives.

What to do with the suspected IS fighters and their families has become an intractable issue. Many countries whose citizens traveled to Syria to join IS have been reluctant to repatriate them, as have local communities in Syria.
